Ph.D. students, Grant students, 3-year and 5-year graduating students may join the "Studio di Microelettronica" and work in the research fields reported below.

Analog RF

  • System level analysis of low power multi-Gbit/s wireless short-range link
  • Design and optimization of the main blocks (Low Noise Amplifier, Mixer, Voltage Controlled Oscillator, PLL-based frequency synthesizer) of a 60GHz RX chain
  • Measurement and characterization of the prototypes
For further details, please contact Prof. F.Svelto

SerDes

  • Advanced analog and digital equalization techniques
  • Very low-jitter frequency synthesis
  • Data recovery circuits
  • Measurement and characterization of the prototypes
For further details, please contact Prof. F.Svelto

Gigabit Ethernet

  • Analog circuit design
  • Feasibility studies for power/area optimization and to prove innovative solutions
  • Design specification definition with the architecture team
  • Mixed-signal (analog-digital) simulation for the interfaces analysis
  • Analog design verification for validation and sign-off
  • Measurements and characterization of the prototypes
For further details, please contact Prof. F.Svelto

Silicon Photonics

  • Receiver: design and optimization of electrical blocks beyond 25Gbps (Trans-Impedance Amplifier, Limiting Amplifier, Buffer) to convert received photo-current into an electrical voltage compliant with standard requirements
  • Transmitter: design and optimization of electrical blocks beyond 25Gbps (modulator drivers) to generate the desired binary optical signal compliant with standard requirements
  • Measurement and characterization of the prototypes
For further details, please contact Prof. F.Svelto
